SDL Guidance Council

The purpose of the SDL Guidance Council is to help guide SDL strategically and tactically, support customer relationships, and provide industry insight and networking.

General Bruce Carlson, USAF, Retired

General Bruce Carlson’s prestigious military career is evident by his many past accomplishments including serving as Director of the National Reconnaissance Office, Commander in the Air Force Materiel Command, Commander of Air Force Strategic Command, Joint Functional Component Commander for Space and Global Strike, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Air and Space Operations. General Carlson is retired from military service, but continues to play a vital role as a consultant.

Sue C. Payton

Sue C. Payton served as the Deputy Under Secretary for Advanced Systems and Concepts from 2001 to 2006. She was also the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force in acquisitions from 2006 to 2009. She is currently the president of SCI Aerospace, Inc. and serves on several Boards.

Rear Admiral Elizabeth M. Young, USN, Retired

Rear Admiral Elizabeth M. Young is the former Director of Systems Engineering at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). Prior to this appointment, she served as the Program Manager for the Low Earth Orbit System Program Office in SIGINT and the Deputy Program Manager and Chief Systems Engineer of the Advanced Concepts Staff in the Imagery Architecture Program in the Imagery Intelligence (IMINT) Directorate.

Sue Mashiko

Retired Major General Susan K. Mashiko is currently serving as the president of SKM Aerospace, LLC. Previous positions include Deputy Director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Director of Space Acquisition at the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Vice Commander at the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Commander MILSATCOM (SMC), Program Executive Officer for Environmental Satellites, Deputy Director for the NPOESS program, Chief of NRO’s Action Staff, and Director of the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle System Program Office. She holds a BS in aeronautical engineering, an MS in national resource strategy, and an MS in electrical engineering.
